The census is everyone’s business …

The census is a compulsory act of civic responsibility that concerns you and benefits everyone.

Whether you are French or from abroad, a permanent resident or just here for your studies, once you have been in France for at least one year the census concerns you. Your answers are used by the authorities to adapt the country’s housing and transport, sports facilities and day-to-day services, for example.

... But not all at the same time !

If you are part of the census this year, an enumerator will come to your home and give you the guide containing your login details so that you can fill out the census online. If you prefer, you can also fill out the paper questionnaires and agree with the enumerator on a time for him or her to come back and collect them.

When is the census taking place ?

This year’s census starts on 19th January. You have until 18th February to fill out the census if you live in a town of less than 10,000 inhabitants, and until 25st February in larger towns. In Reunion Island the census starts on 2th February. It ends on 4th March in towns of less than 10,000 inhabitants and 11th March in larger towns.

Your answers are purely confidential :

Your answers are treated anonymously. They can be used only by the INSEE, under CNIL supervision. No administration can have acces to them, no inspection can result from them.
